SYSO & SJYS
Springfield Youth String Orchestra (SYSO) and Springfield Junior Youth Symphony (SJYS) are two other honor orchestras sponsored by The SPS Honors Youth Orchestra program. Members in grades 5 to 10 from Springfield Public Schools and surrounding communities audition in September for the upcoming performing season from October to March. The mission of each honor orchestra is to provide an age-appropriate, honorary, and supplementary orchestra for advanced players of orchestral instruments. The level of difficulty and advanced playing skills exceed those of normal grade-appropriate literature. The honors orchestras are supplementary to the regular SPS orchestra curriculum.
